A simple Glamis weekend
- Friday: get there and set up. Drive in and set up camp before dark. Renting one of our travel trailers? We deliver it to your camp or wash, leveled and set up, between 9 am and 5 pm. We call the day before to set the time and spot, and someone from your group needs to be there. If you're bringing your own vehicle into the dunes, have your BLM permit before you arrive.
- Saturday: ride. Pick up your UTV at our shop on Vendor Row, next to the Glamis Beach Store. We check your license and paperwork, hand out helmets and walk around the machine with you. Ride the morning, take a real break at camp midday, and head back out in the afternoon. Be off the sand before dark: no night riding on rentals.
- Sunday: short ride, then home. Ride in the morning and bring the UTV back before closing on your last day. Trailer renters: on your last morning, wash the dishes, take out the trash, turn off the lights and generator, leave the door unlocked and text us.
Trailers have a 3-day minimum (4 on holidays, Halloween included), so plan the trailer for the whole weekend. New to Glamis? Read how to rent a UTV and plan your first weekend and our camping guide.
Couple's weekend
The machine: a 2-seat. The Maverick X3 DS Turbo (120 HP) is a good first pick for the dunes. If you've ridden before and want more, step up to the X3 RS Turbo RR (200 HP, 72 inches wide) or the Maverick R X (240 HP, 77 inches), which is best for experienced riders. Just want to cruise the flats, Vendor Row and Competition Hill? The Commander XT is the easiest to drive.
The camp: one of our smaller travel trailers, delivered and set up. Book a trailer.
Family weekend
The machine: a 4-seat keeps everyone in one machine. The X3 MAX DS Turbo is the all-around pick. The Commander MAX XT is easier to drive for a relaxed day around the flats. Riders can be any age: a parent or guardian signs the vQuip waiver for anyone under 18, and one parent can sign for up to 6 kids. We include a helmet for every rider. Kids' helmets, goggles and gloves are for sale at the shop. More on family UTV rentals.
The camp: a travel trailer with bunks for the kids, delivered to your spot with fresh water, propane and kitchen supplies. Book a trailer.
Group trip
The machines: several, and count your drivers first. Only the renter drives each UTV, and every driver must be 25 or older with a physical driver's license. Mix 4-seaters (the X3 MAX DS Turbo, or the Maverick R MAX X for an experienced crew) with 2-seaters for anyone who wants their own machine. Agree on a regroup spot and time before everyone heads out.
The camp: for more than one trailer or a big crew, call or text (760) 573-6825 and we'll line up machines and trailers for the same dates. Online bookings run up to 6 days; call for 7 or more.
Day trip
The machine: any of them. Skip the camp, pick up at our shop on Vendor Row, ride, and bring it back before closing. For an easy first day, the Commander XT or the X3 DS Turbo. For experienced riders, the Maverick R lineup.
Holiday weekends: book early
Halloween, Thanksgiving, New Year's and Presidents' Day weekends are the busiest at Glamis. Book as early as you can. Your 25% reservation deposit locks in your dates, and they aren't held until it's paid. Trailers need 4 days on holidays. See our Glamis events calendar to plan around the big weekends.
