What to bring
- A physical driver's license for the driver (the primary renter, 25 or older)
- A physical credit or debit card in the renter's name that matches their ID, for the security hold (credit works best)
- A signed vQuip waiver for every rider
- Closed-toe shoes for everyone in the machine
- Goggles, sunscreen, water and layers for the day
Your booking, rental agreement, license and card all need to show the same name.
Who can drive
Only the primary renter drives, and nobody else takes the wheel at any time. The driver has to be 25 or older and show a physical driver's license at pickup. You don't need an off-road endorsement or a motorcycle license.
A passport, state ID or international driving permit works as ID for riders who won't drive. It doesn't let someone drive or rent. If law enforcement stops you and the driver's name doesn't match the rental agreement, they may impound the machine.
Riders and waivers
Riders can be any age, up to the number of seats in the machine. A parent or guardian signs for anyone under 18, and one parent can sign for up to 6 kids. Bringing the family? See family UTV rentals.
Every rider signs a vQuip waiver before pickup: no signed waiver, no ride. After you pay the deposit, vQuip emails the primary renter a "Register Now" link to forward to your riders (check spam). Riders can also sign at the counter.
Deposit and security hold
You pay a 25% reservation deposit when you book. It goes toward your balance, and your dates aren't held until it's paid. The rest is charged to the card on file the morning of pickup.
The security hold is separate. It's a hold, not a charge, and it goes on your card the morning of pickup:
| Machine | Security hold |
|---|---|
| Commander XT 1000R, Commander MAX XT 1000R | $2,500 |
| Maverick X3 DS Turbo, Maverick X3 MAX DS Turbo | $2,500 |
| Maverick X3 RS Turbo, X3 RS Turbo RR, X3 XRS Turbo RR, every Maverick R | $3,500 |
We release the hold the same day the unit comes back clean. Your bank can take up to 7 days to show it, and longer on a debit card. If there's damage, the hold is kept until the itemized repair invoice is final, then only that total is captured and the rest releases. If damage is more than the hold, the card on file is charged the difference. Cash holds only with a manager's OK, so call us first.
The required vQuip Adventure Shield is on every UTV and is already in your checkout total. The damage waiver is optional. It caps physical damage to our machine at the deductible, but it never covers mechanical damage or liability, and belts, clutches and axles are always charged. Our guide to deposits, insurance and damage has more.

Our rules on every rental
- Helmets on at all times, for everyone in the machine.
- Everyone buckled in.
- Only the renter drives.
- No alcohol or impairment before or during the rental.
- No night riding. Back at the shop before closing on your last day.
- Never leave the machine in the dunes overnight. If it breaks down, call us and stay with it. See breakdown support.
BLM rules apply too: the whip flag stays up, 15 mph near camps and roads, quiet hours from 10 pm to 6 am, and no glass.
At pickup
Pickup is at our shop on Vendor Row, 5775 E Hwy 78, right next to the Glamis Beach Store. It's quick: we check your license and paperwork, hand out helmets and walk around the machine with you, noting any marks already on it. Here's a pickup checklist.
FAQs
Can a friend take a turn driving?
No. Only the primary renter drives, for the whole rental. Everyone else rides as a passenger.
I don't have a driver's license. Can I still ride?
Yes, as a passenger. The primary renter (25 or older, with a physical driver's license) drives.
I'm visiting from outside the US. Can I rent?
Call us before you book so we can talk through your license. An international driving permit on its own works as ID for riders, not for the driver.
Can I use a debit card for the hold?
Yes. The hold goes on a physical credit or debit card in the renter's name that matches their ID. Credit works best, because a debit card can take longer to show the release.
